One :: Mother Mug
Mother- a woman who has given birth to a child
This piece titled “Mother Mug” is the first in my collection for Parsons Challenge. It is my interpretation of my mother on a clay mug and is symbolic of the childhood memories with her that I used to overlook. Growing up I can remember spending a lot of time in the kitchen watching my mom cook dinner, but now that I spend most of my week nights working at the mall; this doesn't happen except for during the holidays. This piece is expressive of my realization of how important that time with her is. This clay mug not only symbolizes my mother, but also the kitchen; which is the room in which I associate her. As a set, I eventually plan to make one of my grandmother as well, but for the purpose of depicting the importance of my immediate family I just chose to include my mother.
